The use of small molecules as potential geroprotectors and/or pharmacogenomics in model organisms has gain considerable attention. Some of the most promising molecules in this regard point to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and its precursors. Due to the rare applicability of genetic techniques in ameliorating aging progression in humans, it is coming increasingly appropriate to search for compounds with promising anti-aging effects. Basically, aging is a complex biological event characteriz by a decline in cell physiological state and trigger by a variety of genetic, and environmental factors. Several molecules extend lifespan using diverse regulatory pathways and mechanisms. NAD for instance suppresses aging by increase in NAD biosynthesis via the NAD biosynthesis pathways.
